Art Therapy
Two certified art therapists are on staff at Meredith-Dunn. These mental health professionals use art media, the creative processing and the resulting artwork to explore feelings, reconcile emotional conflicts, foster self-awareness, manage behavior, develop social skills, reduce anxiety, and increase self-esteem. These therapists are available to students during the school day and assist staff members as needed.
Counseling
Meredith-Dunn has a licensed clinical social worker on staff that can also provide counseling services to students and their families. This staff member also specializes in social cognition therapy and provides this service to individuals and small groups. This is especially important for Meredith-Dunn students who are diagnosed with language-based disorders and may need to develop social cognition skills that help them process, store and apply information that they encounter in social interactions.
